Although this meta tag area is important it must be also combined with several other tactics to rank your website high in the search engines. This meta tag presents keywords that reflect the content of your site. They should not be words that do nothing at all that pertain to your site.

The number of words and phrases should be no more than 25. I have seen websites that had stuffed keywords into this meta tag and it did no good. Most search engines will ignore anything over the 25 word limit.

A keyword phrase is defined as more than one word. "Real Estate Agent" and by demographic area "Real Estate Agent Texas" is a keyword phrase.

Select about 25 words or phrases that descibe your product or service, and separate them with a comma. This line would look like: real estate, real estate agent, texas, etc.

By carefully planning and selecting the right keywords, your site will be more visible in the search engines, and as a result, more visitors and this means more possible sales for you.
