The search engines play a particular role with meta tags. The meta keyword area can be found on the backend of your html pages at the top in between the header. The meta keyword tag allows you to provide additional text for crawler-based search engines to index along with your html write up and/or body copy. How does this help you? Well, for most major search engines , it doesn't. Most major search engines now ignore this area. 

Far too many people new to search engine optimization rely on the meta keyword tag. Few search engines support it. For those that do, it may possibly help but with no guarantee! It also may very well do nothing for your ranking at all.
